Our definition of tenant improvement is: All changes made to the interior of a commercial or industrial property by its owner to accommodate the needs of a tenant such as floor and wall coverings, ceilings, partitions, air conditioning, fire protection, and security.

While there are differing types of interior commercial improvements, the most common is Interior Commercial Improvements. These modifications could be made by either the building owner or the tenant, and could include changes to walls, floors, ceilings, and lighting, among others.
